Naren Chittar

Head of MLCOE Silicon Valley Campus

Managing Director Naren Chittar is head of the MLCOE’s Silicon Valley Campus where he leads Speech, Language and Scalable Machine Learning teams and drives the adoption of Large Language Models across JPMC.

Early in his career, he founded MinHash, an NLP startup focused on large-scale mining of news, later acquired by Salesforce where he built new chatbots for their customer service platform.

While at eBay, he co-created their first large scale 'similar items recommendation engine' plus image search algorithms for visual shopping. In 2020 and 2021 he was co-instructor for Stanford’s graduate course on Knowledge Graphs. Naren has published numerous papers and served on the program committee for WWW 2012. Naren earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay and his master’s in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
