American Banker honored JPMorganChase with its 2025 Innovation of the Year Award Grand Prize for its work on LLM Suite, the firm’s proprietary generative AI platform. These awards recognize “teams that have brought groundbreaking technology to life within financial institutions” across 10 categories. LLM Suite took the top spot in the Generative AI category, and was then revealed as the overall winner at American Banker’s Innovation of the Year Awards Dinner held at the publication’s Digital Banking conference in June.

LLM Suite was released in summer 2024 to eligible employees across the firm, providing access to large language models (LLMs) in a secure environment. Driven in part by employee demand, the platform went from zero to 200,000 onboarded users within eight months, supporting users with idea generation and content drafting. The product was a novel offering in the financial industry at the time — American Banker notes that buzz generated by LLM Suite has since inspired competitors to launch similar products.

Now that LLM Suite has been placed in the hands of employees, JPMorganChase developers are working on making it even more efficient and powerful. “The North Star for LLM Suite is to position it as an AI hub for employees,” says Derek Waldron, the firm’s Chief Analytics Officer. Up next? Integrating the tool with additional internal data sources to improve information access, and combining generative AI with workflows to create AI agents that can carry out a series of actions to complete a goal.
