Richard Chen

GTAR Research Director

Richard Chen joined the GT Applied Research team as Head of Computer Vision. His research focus is to improve computer vision algorithms with respective to algorithmic/computational/label efficiency and privacy/fairness. His work has been published in top-tier conferences, e.g., CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, etc.

Previously, Richard was a Research Staff Member at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, where his focus was on efficient computer vision, including model architecture design, model pruning, model quantization and adaptive computation. He is also worked on machine learning with fewer labels with cross-domain few-shot learning and transfer learning. He has also worked on architecture/ASIC design for image/video processing/compression, medical image processing, vision-based mobile application design and quantum computing.
