Helping investors consider the many benefits of investment trusts
LONDON, 3 October 2012 – J.P. Morgan Asset Management, the largest manager of investment trusts in the UK, has launched a number of short films specifically designed to assist and educate private investors. The videos highlight the features and benefits of investment trusts in a bid to encourage investors to take a fresh look at them.
David Barron, Head of Investment Trusts at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, said: “There has been a lot of discussion around the arrival of the Retail Distribution Review bringing investment trusts on to the radar of many advisers – and hence investors – for the first time. These short films have been developed to help investors (whether or not they use an adviser) to understand more about how investment trusts can be used in their portfolios. The films provide a collection of short reference guides designed as practical and accessible tools which we hope will encourage a fresh look at the investment vehicles.”
The Definitions films address 10 key points:
1. What is an investment trust?
2. Where can I find information on ITs?
3. How to buy ITs
7. Subscription shares/warrants
8. Regular savings
9. Income in investment trusts
10. Split-capital investment trusts

David Barron went on to say: “Many investors are currently looking around to see what investment options are available to provide them with growth or income. We hope these films will be useful in demonstrating how investment trusts can play a key role in a balanced investment portfolio, providing opportunities both for more conservative investors and those with a greater appetite for risk. We believe there is a chance for investment trusts to broaden their appeal as a result of regulatory changes, and our aim is to ensure investors are as well-informed as possible when it comes to making key investment decisions.”
