Bivial AG (Bivial) is a Swiss fintech regulated under the Swiss Federal Banking Act, Article 1b, with a mission to bridge the gap between online businesses and traditional banks. Launched publicly in January 2022, Bivial entered the marketplace as a financial service provider for small and midsize digital businesses. Limited by its currency transaction capabilities (EUR and CHF), the company sought the support of J.P. Morgan Payments to scale its infrastructure.
75% YoY increase in client base
70% average YoY team growth
FX capabilities in 18 account currencies and payments across 90+ countries
Increased revenue through cross-border payments and FX
Bivial wanted to combine the personal touch of a nimble fintech with the advanced technology and global reach of J.P. Morgan Payments.
Bivial approached J.P. Morgan Payments for support in optimizing its payment operations modernization. Expanding from a single currency system to multiple currencies was critical in order to serve Bivial’s multinational clients. “In this digital economy, we know that customers and companies are spread out. They’re operating multinationally,” said Martynas Bieliauskas, Founder and CEO at Bivial. “To succeed, you need access to as many transaction corridors and capabilities as possible.”
“We needed a symbiotic relationship. One where we could nurture the business side of things but also rely on J.P. Morgan Payments banking infrastructure to deliver our services.”

One of the biggest game changers for Bivial was access to J.P. Morgan Payments clearing, cross-border and multicurrency payment capabilities, which offers clients the capability to hold accounts in 34 currencies, process payments in over 120 currencies and reach more than 160 countries.1
“We immediately had access to U.S. dollar clearing and cross-border payments. With one relationship, we were able to access everything,” Bieliauskas said. “If you had to build this network yourself, from the ground up, it would take years.” Instead, Bivial’s outbound capabilities now include payments in over 90 countries, with the possibility of more.
Likewise, our payment-corridor expertise and insight into unique clearing options allowed payments to move forward where they might otherwise be less commercially attractive. “A lot of that cross-border capability comes from J.P. Morgan,” Bieliauskas said. “And it’s not just the typical international wire transfer—there are many local, domestic clearing capabilities too.”
To power transactions, Bivial integrated its proprietary core banking system with J.P. Morgan Payments API capabilities. With enhanced speeds, Bivial can count on faster turnarounds through the API’s parallel processing of information and automatic data flows.
Additionally, the size and reputation of J.P. Morgan Payments add a sense of comfort and security. “J.P. Morgan Payments really is the backbone of our banking capabilities today,” Bieliauskas said.
“From day one, we had access to the technical integration tools to process those transactions, to reconcile and to integrate our business quickly into the J.P. Morgan Payments system.”

By using J.P. Morgan Payments Solutions, Bivial enhanced its transactional banking capabilities, gaining access to U.S. dollar clearing, expanding to 18 account currencies and enabling payments to over 90 countries.
As a result, Bivial achieved profitability within six months and has sustained average year-over-year client growth of 75% since launch. Bivial continues to grow by onboarding new clients annually and expanding its team.
Supported by J.P. Morgan Payments, Bivial also gained the agility and confidence to offer clients a more compelling global account experience, with the ability to assess risk, anticipate demand and test possible payment solutions with ease. “It’s the comfort of knowing that the capability is there,” Bieliauskas said.
Looking ahead, Bivial is building its treasury function and working toward obtaining a full Swiss banking license to offer additional benefits such as yield-bearing accounts. The company is also looking to expand its regulatory capabilities and explore new geographies. As Bivial evolves to meet client needs, we continues to support its growth with scalable solutions.
“The world is developing. There are a lot of opportunities, and having the right partners, the right regulation and the right technology is key. We know that with the backing of J.P. Morgan Payments, we’re able to have a product offering that’s competitive in the market.”
