Robert Shibuya:
One of the lessons I've learned having been an entrepreneur for only 7 years in my 40-year career is that in order to be successful, you need to have good partners and most importantly, good mentors. The mentoring that I've been given from both J.P. Morgan and from other people that have done business with J.P. Morgan is to be tenacious, but be patient.
Bernard Williams:
My granddad started the business. He really taught me so much. I mean, I still fall back on some of the lessons just sitting at the kitchen table, discussing the business and things that he had to go through growing up, and some of those things I'm experiencing now in business. I try to carry on the same principles that he had. My grandad chose the name Fidelity for a reason: Your customers should always be able to trust you. You treat people well. We treat our employees like family. I'm still always learning, so when I learn about a business or something cool that somebody’s doing, if there’s a connection that I can make for them and help guide them with some of the mistakes that I’ve made, then that really is fulfilling, satisfying, and so, I look for those opportunities as well.
