Supported payment formats for the new postal address requirements

We support ISO 20022 Version 3 (pain.001.001.03) and ISO20022 Version 9 (pain.001.001.09) payment formats through Global EBICS.

ISO 20022 Version 3 (pain.001.001.03)

  • For ordering parties and beneficiaries, include the name (<Nm>) and postal address (<PstlAdr>) tags for the creditor and, if applicable, the ultimate debtor or creditor.
  • Rules for debtor agent, creditor agent, forwarding agents, and intermediary agents:
    • Where the bank identification code (BIC) is provided, the country code and town/city name are not required, but if provided may be ignored for processing and routing purposes, as bank processing and routing is based on the BIC alone.
    • Where the member ID is provided, only the country is required which will be converted to the clearing system ID. The town/city name is not required, but if provided will be treated as surplus information only, as bank processing and routing is based on the member ID/country combination.
    • When BIC or member ID is not provided, then the bank name, the country code, and town/city name are all required.

These updates will help you align with the new postal address requirements and avoid payment delays or rejections. Mandatory tags are highlighted in bold for your reference.

  • Whether you use the fully structured or hybrid format, you must include a structured town name and a structured country code (using the ISO 2-letter format) for each party.
  • If you don’t currently have the town name and country code for your payees, reach out to them and collect this information immediately. This will help you stay compliant with the new requirements and avoid any disruptions to your payment processing.

ISO20022 Version 9 (pain.001.001.09)
