South LA affordable housing complex revitalizes vacant lot
Community Development Banking’s Cécile Chalifour spoke with Commercial Observer about a mixed-use project that aims to restore a long under-resourced neighborhood.
The Evermont project, located on a lot that has been vacant since the 1992 Los Angeles uprising, will deliver affordable housing units, retail space and a nearby charter school to the local community. Cécile Chalifour, West Regional Manager, Community Development Banking for JPMorgan Chase, spoke to Commercial Observer about the importance of the project, plus:
- The benefits of collaborating with multiple entities, including BRIDGE Housing and the Coalition for Responsible Community Developers, to bring affordable housing projects to fruition
- Construction timelines and other common challenges for affordable housing developers
- The firm’s work—both inside and outside Community Development Banking—to finance affordable housing deals nationwide
