100 years of J.P. Morgan in Germany

For more than a century, we have supported our clients’ ambitions across Germany with best-in-class service across Investment Banking, Corporate and Commercial Banking, Payments, Securities Services, Markets, Asset Management and Private Banking. With three locations in the country—Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich—and Frankfurt serving as the headquarters for J.P. Morgan’s business in the EU, we are the largest international bank in Europe’s biggest economy.

While much has changed since 1924, when we opened our first representative office in Berlin, our commitment to our employees, clients and our communities remains as strong as ever. This commitment extends to supporting local communities and helping to drive inclusive and stable growth throughout the Federal Republic.

Every year, we’re proud to welcome more than 60,000 participants from over 2,000 firms across the country for the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Frankfurt, the largest company running event in the world.

About us

Our history in Germany dates back to 1924, when we opened a representative office. Post-World War II, we were the first foreign bank to re-open branches in Germany in 1947. We offer clients products and services from our corporate and investment bank, asset management, private banking as well as commercial solutions.

J.P. Morgan has operated in Europe for nearly 200 years and has a sophisticated local market presence across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Within the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, J.P. Morgan has an unparalleled client base and leadership across the spectrum of financial services products. The regional head office in London is complemented by a strong regional footprint, with offices in all major financial centers.

Globally, through the JPMorganChase Foundation, we make philanthropic investments in cities where we have major operations, assisting those at a disadvantage by helping them build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities. Across EMEA, the firm focuses its investment and attention on three pillars: Economic Development, Financial Empowerment and Workforce Readiness.

J.P. Morgan is a global leader in financial services, offering solutions to the world's most important corporations, governments and institutions in more than 100 countries. As announced in 2020, JPMorganChase will deploy $2 billion in philanthropic capital around the world by 2025. We also lead volunteer service activities for employees in local communities by utilizing our many resources, including those that stem from access to capital, economies of scale, global reach and expertise.
