Remote Capture is J.P. Morgan’s remote deposit platform providing desktop and mobile scanning capabilities that can be customized to meet the needs of your receivables collection process. Remote Capture enables you to capture and transmit checks, full page documents, coupons, remittance items and envelopes.

  • Remote Capture Desktop 

    enables you to scan checks, remittance documents and envelopes to submit for deposit.

  • Remote Capture Mobile

    enables you to take pictures of checks, remittance documents and envelopes to submit for deposit.

Remote capture offers two solutions to route your transactions for deposit. The Remote Deposit Capture solution allows you to deposit directly into your bank account. The Remote Lockbox Capture1 allows you to send transactions into your lockbox workflow for deposit.

Remote Capture is integrated into our industry-leading receivables management service, Receivables Online, which provides you with a consolidated view of your domestic and international receipts as well as remittances.

How to use Remote Deposit Capture.

On the JP Morgan Receivables Online Landing Page, hovers over Remote Capture.

Begin scanning Remote Capture items. Go to the Receivables tab and click on Capture Transactions under the Remote Capture sub menu.

Capture Transactions. Dropdown menus for Program, Capture Type and Group.

Select the program where you want your remote capture transaction deposited.

Select the capture type, and if the program includes a group option, be sure to select the desired group.

Next fill out the required fields as indicated by a required label and any optional fields. Required fields include Expected total checks and expected total amount.

Load up to 50 items in the scanner and click Scan, the blue button in the lower right corner.

A new screen shows a triangle made from three dots and the text Scanning, Please wait while images are being scanned.

As your items move through the scanner, you will see a progress counter on the Receivables Online Screen.

A new page, Capture Details. A heading in the center reads Summary Details above the image of a check.

Summary level information for your batch is displayed under Summary Details. You can expand or collapse each capture in this selection as needed.

On the left side of the screen are a list of checks and documents, some with green checkmarks, others with red exclamation points.

Any successfully scanned documents will have a green check mark. If there are any errors found, the status will show a red warning symbol, which indicates you should edit the transaction details, delete, or rescan.

Still on the left side of the screen, hovers over an item, 1 check, one document.

To view the scanned check or document details, click on the item you want to view and it will appear on the right side.

Two checks in a row are listed with the amount of $1,605.49. There is a red triangle with an exclamation point next to it. Text. If two checks are scanned with the same check details, the duplicate checking indicator will flag the scan as a potential duplicate.

Another page shows the summary details of a check.

Some of the check data can be edited post scan. Select a filed below the image to edit the data. If any data is missing, it will appear in red. You can mark checks as Money Orders by selecting the check box below.

When you are done editing, click Save and Continue, the blue button in the lower left corner.

Depending on the details of the capture, you will see Rescan, Change to Document, or Check and Mark as New Transaction Action Buttons.

To review the check capture details, check the fields below the image. Confirm the M.I.C.R. data, check amount, and other reference fields.

Once you are done scanning, you have the option to scan additional checks and documents or submit what you have scanned for deposit if you have the entitlements to do so. Another person may need to submit on your behalf for the submission to be complete.

Under the Receivables tab are five columns. On the far right is Action Items.

To access a variety of action required views, utilize the list on the right of the menu under Action Items.

The second column from the left is Remote Capture.

To view the history of Remote Captures, go to the Capture History Page.

Capture History page opens with a list of batch numbers.

The Capture History is organized by the batch number that was entered or auto generated from the system. You can select multiple batches and use the action buttons on the bottom.

Optionally, you can view or print the Submission Confirmation report of the selected batches by clicking on the Submission Confirmation button located at the center of the bottom of the page.

To view the capture details page of the batch, click on the batch number.

Please review the Scanner Installation Guide under the Remote Capture Resources section prior to downloading the drivers.

Using Remote Capture with one of the supported desktop scanner models requires the installation of 2 separate drivers. Depending on your desktop configuration you may need administrative rights to be able to install the drivers.

Note: Hardware installations commonly require administrative rights to your local computer. Please engage your IT team if you do not have administrative rights.
