J.P. Morgan Demonstrates The Potential Of Blockchain-Based Prototype

J.P. Morgan demonstrated a blockchain-based prototype for capital markets, called Dromaius, during the Consensus 2018 conference hosted in New York City. Led by Christine Moy, Executive Director and Head of J.P. Morgan’s Blockchain Center of Excellence, the team has been working to address the challenges around transactions within capital markets.

The blockchain-based platform is designed to “streamline operations, help with cost savings and overall make the experience of transacting or issuing a financial instrument like this more seamless and simplified,” stated Moy.

Although the technology is in early stages, Moy and her blockchain team have made progress in identifying not only the technical challenges of integrating the new technology with legacy systems, but also the risk and operational factors to deploy the blockchain-based platform.

By harnessing the properties of blockchain, Dromaius demonstrates J.P. Morgan’s commitment in progressing advanced technology into real financial market applications.
