Firm to sponsor Laver Cup Men's Tennis Competition in Chicago
J.P. Morgan will once again be a global sponsor of the Laver Cup, an international men's tennis tournament that debuted in 2017 with Team Europe defeating Team World in a memorable battle in Prague, Czech Republic. The highly-anticipated second edition of the Laver Cup will take place at the United Center in Chicago, September 21-23, two weeks following the US Open. J.P. Morgan has been a proud sponsor of the US Open Tennis Championships since 1982 and the Women’s Singles Championship since 1996.
“We look forward to building off the success of the inaugural Laver Cup, and offering our customers and clients access and experiences to back-to-back world-class tennis events at the US Open followed by the Laver Cup,” said Frank Nakano, head of Sports and Entertainment Marketing for JPMorgan Chase.
The Laver Cup is named in honor of Australian tennis legend Rod Laver, the only man to win two calendar-year Grand Slams and one of the greatest players of all time. “The response from our clients and other tennis fans following the inaugural Laver Cup was tremendous,” said Carlos Hernandez, Head of Global Banking for J.P. Morgan. “We’re proud to be a part of bringing an event of this caliber to the city of Chicago, and we’re excited for what’s to come.”
Tony Godsick, President and CEO of TEAM8, the managing partner of the Laver Cup concurred, “We are excited to be collaborating with J.P. Morgan as a global sponsor of the Laver Cup in Chicago. Their global reach and commitment to sports and entertainment make them a tremendous partner."
Some of the biggest stars in tennis, past and present, kicked off the 2018 event with an appearance in Millennium Park on March 19.
