Arsalan Mahtafar
Executive Director, Head of Development Impact Advisory
Arsalan Mahtafar leads development impact advisory at JPMorgan. In this role, he advises clients on formulating their development impact strategy and engaging with impact-focused investors.
Over the past few years, Arsalan has provided impact advisory to corporations, as well as national and sub-national governments, in over 40 countries. From 2023 to 2025, he headed the JPMorgan Development Finance Institution. During this time, he also co-chaired the Impact Disclosure Taskforce, an industry-wide effort to establish best practices for impact-focused investing in wholesale banking and capital markets.
Prior to J.P. Morgan, Arsalan was a manager at McKinsey, working in banking, healthcare, technology, private equity, and economic development policy. He holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from Harvard University and dual Bachelors in Business Administration and International Political Economy from UC Berkeley.
