In the Derivatives House of the Year write-up, Risk Magazine wrote: “J.P. Morgan … is feverishly remodelling itself for a future that only exists in outline—the giant US bank is a kind of castle-and-laboratory, increasingly home to the kinds of people that are transforming modern life.”

It continues later: “It all makes for a pretty unusual Risk Awards story, where the traditional focus has been on jumbo trades, structuring wizardry, and a dash of risk management grit—but these are run-the-bank accomplishments, at a time when change-the-bank has become the priority. In that race, J.P. Morgan has stolen a march on the competition. Its market-making and risk management capabilities are already being transformed.”

The Risk awards recognise excellence in dealers’ market-making businesses, technology innovation, market infrastructure provision as well as recognizing excellence in risk management.
