MORE TIPS FOR PREVENTING FRAUD
- Beware of investment scams.
If an investment sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Do research or consult a financial professional before providing personal details or sending money. - Check your accounts periodically.
Look for any unauthorized activity, and set up online alerts to verify account changes and transactions. - Confirm the source before sharing information.
Provide your Social Security number, account numbers, passwords or security question answers only to trusted companies and websites.
- Look for red flags in emails.
Be wary of emails with urgent language, requests for personal data, poor grammar, misspellings or an unrecognized sender email address. Do not click on links or open attached files if you have any concerns about an email’s validity. - Keep your devices secure.
Make sure the operating system, browser and anti-virus programs are up-to-date on all of your computers, tablets and phones.
