How to link external accounts

See your J.P. Morgan accounts—and all of your external financial accounts—in one place. Improve visibility, increase control and (optionally) share access with your J.P. Morgan team to improve planning capabilities. You can link your external financial accounts through J.P. Morgan OnlineSM or the J.P. Morgan Mobile® app.1

Here’s how to get started:

  • Sign in to JPMorganOnline.com
  • Scroll down to “External accounts”
  • Select “Link an account”
  • Read the terms and conditions
  • Select the box indicating “I have read and accept the terms and conditions above”
  • Select “Link external accounts”
  • Select or search for your financial institution
    • Optional: If you do not see your institution in the list, you can add the account details yourself
      • Select the link at the bottom of the list that reads, “Don't see your institution? Fill in the account info yourself”
      • Select your account type from the dropdown
      • Search for and select the name of the institution, or select “Other” in this section if you are unable to locate your institution
      • Enter the account value, and the date of that account value. You can optionally also provide an account number
      • Select “Next” and then either “Done” or “Add another”
  • Fill in your sign-in details
  • Select “Next”
  • If you wish to link another account, select “Link another” otherwise select “Done”
  • Your linked external accounts will now be visible on the main “Overview” screen by selecting “Accounts” at the top, “Overview” and scrolling down to “External accounts”
  • Note: You can adjust which accounts you have linked as well as which accounts are visible to your J.P. Morgan team at any time. To do so, select “Accounts” at the top, then “Overview,” scroll down and locate “External accounts,” select the three dots (…) and select “Settings”

  • Sign in to the J.P. Morgan Mobile app
  • Scroll down to and tap “Link external accounts”
  • Read the terms and conditions
  • Tap the box indicating “I have read and accept the terms and conditions above”
  • Tap “Link external accounts”
  • Tap or search for your financial institution
    • Optional: If you do not see your institution in the list, you can add the account details yourself
      • Tap the link at the bottom of the list that reads, “Don't see your institution? Fill in the account info yourself” 
      • Choose your account type from the dropdown
      • Search for and tap the name of the institution, or tap “Other” in this section if you are unable to locate your institution
      • Enter the account value, and the date of that account value. You can optionally also provide an account number
      • Tap “Next” and then either “Done” or “Add another”
  • Fill in your sign-in details
  • Tap “Next”
  • If you wish to link another account, tap “Link another” otherwise tap “Done”
  • You will now be able to view your linked external accounts by visiting the main “Accounts” screen, tapping “External Accounts” and tapping “Total assets”
  • Note: You can adjust which accounts you have linked as well as which accounts are visible to your J.P. Morgan team at any time. To do so, locate “External Accounts” on the “Accounts” screen, tap into External Account, tap “Settings” and make changes as desired

Frequently asked questions

You can aggregate a range of account types from thousands of U.S.-based institutions. Eligible account types include:

  • Investment Accounts
  • Retirement Accounts (IRA, 401(k), etc.)
  • Checking, Savings, CDs
  • Credit Cards
  • Loans (Mortgages, Student, Auto, HELOC, etc.)
  • Education and Health Savings (529 Plans, HSAs, etc.)
  • Annuities, Life Insurance

It typically takes just a few minutes to link each external financial institution. Occasionally, some accounts or institutions may require an overnight refresh to finalize the connection.

Data for the majority of linked accounts will be refreshed automatically, and these automatic refreshes occur on a nightly basis. If you link an account and the connection is not automatically refreshed, locate “External accounts” on the overview screen, select the three dots (…), select “Settings" and select "Refresh linked accounts." You can also delete the external connection and re-add it to see refreshed balances.

Yes. You decide which accounts you want to see. In addition, you can delete a linked connection at any time.

You can access aggregation via JPMorganOnline.com on your desktop or mobile browser — or on the J.P. Morgan Mobile app on your phone or tablet.
