About Scott

T. Scott Holstead is a Managing Director and Wealth Partner with J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. As a founding member of the Houston JPMS Office and the Holstead Gordon Group, Scott works with a select group of high- and ultra- high-net-worth multi-generational Texas families and their foundations to help them address the complexities of today’s financial markets.

Scott draws on his 18 years of experience navigating market volatility. He leverages the intellectual capital of J.P. Morgan to construct tailored investment solutions for his clients. He enjoys engaging with families and building lasting relationships to provide them with the guidance, comfort and confidence they need for prudent long-term wealth creation and preservation. As a testament to his ability to deliver truly comprehensive investment advice, Scott was recognized by the Financial Times as one of the Top 400 Financial Advisors in 2014 and 2015. He was also named to Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors' list in 2016, 2017 and 2018.1

Scott honed his investment management capabilities at Goldman Sachs, UBS Financial Services and Merrill Lynch. He and the other members of the team joined J.P. Morgan in 2018 to provide clients with the firm’s wealth of products and services, delivering it all within a boutique setting.

Scott is a graduate of Washington & Lee University where he earned a B.A. degree in Political Science. He holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Scott began his career in 1989 at the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy. He also worked in the White House’s Office of National Service during George H.W. Bush’s presidency.

A role model in his community, Scott is an Eagle Scout, a former board member of the Texas Children’s Cancer Center and supports Post Oak Little League, the Boy Scouts of America and the Kinkaid School. Patriotism is very important to him and he has been actively involved in the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation which provides need-based scholarships to children who have lost a parent to war. Scott resides in Houston with his wife, Jill, and their two children.

1The formula the FT uses to grade advisors is based on six broad factors and calculates a numeric score for each advisor. Areas of consideration include advisor assets under management, asset growth, years of experience, industry certification, FINRA compliance record, and online accessibility. Awards or rankings are not indicative of future success or results.

The Barron’s rankings are based on data provided by over 4,000 of the nation’s most productive advisors. Factors included in the rankings: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work. Investment performance isn’t an explicit component because not all advisors have audited results and because performance figures often are influenced more by clients’ risk tolerance than by an advisor’s investment selection abilities. Awards or rankings are not indicative of future success or results.
