About Gary

Gary Fournier is a Managing Director and Wealth Advisor at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. He has over 40 years of investment and finance experience, and is proud of the value he’s offered to his clients over the years, and through many financial market and economic cycles. Gary has built a wealth management practice of over $900 million in assets under management.

Gary began his career with White Weld & Co., ultimately becoming a Partner and overseeing its Century City office. After White Weld was acquired by Merrill Lynch, he moved and became a Partner with Kidder Peabody & Co., where he pioneered the first U.S. over-the-counter shelf registration. He also worked with the global telecom firm, Global Crossing. Gary moved to Smith Barney in 1993, a career transition that was noted on the front page of The Wall Street Journal. While there, he managed a large number of high-value accounts, and was referenced in a 2000 Forbes magazine article. Prior to taking his current position, Gary also served as a money manager at UBS.

Gary and his wife are deeply committed to cancer research and have set up a fund at UCLA, personally funding the entire first year’s research. Additionally, Gary supports a number of community organizations, including Peninsula Friends of the Library, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, and the Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay. When not working, Gary enjoys spending time with Debi, his wife of over 30 years.

1.America’s Top Wealth Advisors ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person and telephone due diligence meetings and a ranking algorithm that includes: client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. Rankings are based on the opinions of SHOOK Research, LLC and not indicative of future performance or representative of any one client’s experience. Awards or rankings are not indicative of future success or results.
2.The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years’ experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criterion due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Neither Forbes nor SHOOK receives a fee in exchange for rankings. Awards or rankings are not indicative of future success or results.
