About Tom

Tom Alison holds a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA)  designation from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and is a Portfolio Manager in J.P. Morgan Portfolio Manager Program.

As a partner and the senior member of The Alison | Jenkins | Podkulski Group, Tom plays a critical role in helping high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners, university endowments and institutions pursue their financial goals. Under his leadership, the Group applies fundamental investment principles with a high-touch approach to create living plans that are regularly reevaluated and updated to help optimize performance while mitigating risk and volatility. Tom monitors the markets on a daily basis, keeping an eye on monetary policy, valuation indicators and the short-term market psychology to help ensure that each client’s portfolio is strategically and tactically positioned to benefit from the market’s machinations.

Tom has more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. His career began in 1970 as an Institutional Consultant with Goodbody & Co., after which he started building a managed investment practice for retail clients at firms including Paine Webber, Prudential and Wachovia Securities. He founded a team with his son, Brett, in 2006 while they were at Wachovia Securities. That same year, they moved to J.P. Morgan. Tom graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Economics and a minor in Corporate Finance in 1967.

Prior to starting his financial services career, Tom served three years as Lieutenant JG in the U.S. Naval Air Force. When he isn’t working with clients or analyzing the markets, Tom enjoys jogging 10–15 miles a week, reading, and spending time with family in Destin, Florida. He and his wife, Dianne, live in Atlanta and have three children and five grandchildren.
