J.P. Morgan is a primary sponsor of Lord’s Cricket Ground in London
Jul 15, 2013
For the past 130 years, the battle for the famous Ashes urn between England and Australia has been one of the most celebrated competitions in international sport. The 2013 Ashes Test Series, to be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London from July 18-22, marks the first one since the start of J.P. Morgan’s sponsorship of Lord’s.
In 2011, J.P. Morgan became a primary sponsor of Lord’s Cricket Ground, the celebrated Home of Cricket. The firm’s sponsorship of the iconic Media Centre at Lord’s gives J.P. Morgan an exceptional opportunity to support a classic international sport at a well loved U.K. institution. It also helps Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the owner of Lord’s and the guardian of the laws of the game, carry on its cricket-related projects around the world.
MCC has helped spur the rapid rise of cricket as a youth sport in Afghanistan, for example, and has supported the rebuilding in Sri Lanka after the 2004 tsunami. For J.P. Morgan and Lord’s, this is at the heart of a beneficial sponsorship – when two institutions can come together to do something terrific.
