The J.P. Morgan Annual Healthcare Conference is widely known as the largest and most informative healthcare symposium for Wall Street. This year was the largest ever, with over 9,000 total attendees, over 10,000 investor meetings, and over 450 companies presenting at the historic Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, CA.
The record attendance at this year's 33rd annual conference comes off the back of a record-breaking year of mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare industry.
For big drugmakers, “the only real place they can find growth is through acquisition,” Jeff Stute, Head of Healthcare Investment Banking at J.P. Morgan, recently told Bloomberg News.
The conference, hosted for J.P. Morgan clients, welcomes corporates, start-ups, nonprofits, and investors from around the world. Healthcare companies and investors consider the conference their “super bowl” and many companies announce various deals and partnerships during the week’s events.
It featured several notable speakers and panels including keynotes from CEO Jamie Dimon; Ezekiel J. Emanuel, MD, PhD, former White House Special Advisor on health policy; and Condoleezza Rice, the 66th Secretary of State of the United States.
