SHANGHAI – The renowned J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge, a leading sport and social event for business communities around the world, will return to Shanghai for the eighth consecutive year on 18 October 2018, with an anticipated, full capacity crowd of 8,000 participants at Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.

“We are very excited that the Corporate Challenge has become one of Shanghai’s most popular after-work events in the past years,” said Mark Leung, J.P. Morgan China CEO. “We are committed to bringing the full force of JPMorgan Chase to China to support our clients, further develop the local markets and contribute to the local community. We hope this signature event of the firm will continue to bring the message of healthy competition, camaraderie and teamwork spirit to the Shanghai community and reaffirm our long-term commitment both to the city and to China.”

The J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is a world-wide series of 5.6km road races and post-race parties open to groups of full-time employees from organizations within the business and public sectors. It is now in its 42nd consecutive year of operation and remains the largest corporate team sports event in the world, which attracted exactly 249,261 entrants from over 7,334 companies in 2017.

The Corporate Challenge made its debut in Shanghai in 2011 and attracted an outstanding crowd of 3,807 participants from 178 companies, making it one of the most successful debut events in the history of the worldwide Series. Last November, this event attracted more than 6,000 runners and walkers from close to 190 companies to take a break from work and join their colleagues and peers in the annual run and post-race hospitality.

Today, the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge continues its long-standing tradition of supporting charities in countries where its events are held. The firm made a donation on behalf of each entrant to the Ai You Foundation for the fourth consecutive year in 2017. The 2018 beneficiary will be announced prior to the race night.

In addition, the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Championship is an invitational event designed to celebrate the unique corporate culture of the worldwide Series. Each year, the 5.6km road race brings together the first-place men’s, women’s and mixed teams from all the Series cities - a total of 156 participants from companies in 13 cities and seven countries. BOSCH (China) Investment Ltd (men’s team), China Merchants Bank (women) and Morgan Stanley (mixed) qualified at the Shanghai event in 2017 and were invited to compete at the 2018 Championship in Boston, USA on 21 June.
