As part of the firm’s global philanthropic efforts, J.P. Morgan and Asia Society recently co-hosted a thought leadership symposium, the 'One Step Ahead' Series in Singapore, to discuss implications, opportunities and challenges related to building and upgrading human capital in the ASEAN region.
Sponsored by J.P. Morgan and organized by Asia Society, a key highlight of the forum was the unveiling of the preliminary findings of a critical research initiative on the ‘ASEAN-5 Skills Gaps’ to a delegation of attendees, comprising government officials and policy advisors and business leaders.
Commissioned by J.P. Morgan, the research being undertaken by Singapore Management University seeks to understand skills gap issues in five major ASEAN countries – Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines and Thailand – across industries that are likely to be the main growth drivers during the next 10 to 15 years. The final report is expected to be released by mid-2016.
