J.P. Morgan welcomes the world’s financial community to Beijing for its 8th annual China Conference
Jun 12, 2012
Beijing — J.P. Morgan today announced the opening of its 8th annual China conference from June 13-15. The event will host 2,000 distinguished delegates from 35 countries, including fund managers representing firms with over USD 10 trillion of combined assets under management.
The conference takes place at a time when the Chinese government is stepping up its efforts to boost consumption and investment, amid increased signs of deceleration in the domestic economy. Jing Ulrich, Chairman of Global Markets, China for J.P. Morgan, said that policy developments in Beijing continue to influence global markets, as investors increasingly look to China for stability and growth.
“Policymakers understand China’s fundamental economic challenges after years of breakneck growth. While these have been addressed in the current five-year plan, the crisis in Europe clearly makes the transition more challenging in the short term”, said Ulrich.
Issues shaping investment and economic growth will be debated at the conference which has become one of the largest and most influential annual gatherings of business leaders in China. “China’s pro-consumption policies, social infrastructure spending and improved efficiencies give rise to an abundance of investment opportunities. This conference is designed to identify promising areas of investment arising from China’s new era of economic development. With a record number of experts and corporate speakers in attendance and thousands of private meetings scheduled, investor interest in China remains robust”, added Ulrich.
The “China: Sustaining Momentum” themed conference opens tomorrow with a keynote panel on China’s global role, featuring The Rt Hon Tony Blair and Mr. Jin Liqun, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, China Investment Corporation. Dr. Henry Kissinger, one of the world’s most renowned experts on China, Gary Locke, U.S. Ambassador to China, and Mr. Gao Xiqing, Vice Chairman and President, China Investment Corporation will also address the audience as keynote speakers.
More than 200 top experts on China and senior executives from more than 180 Chinese and multinational corporations will share insights on a wide range of topics such as economic rebalancing, capital market reforms and the outlook for key industries.
