J.P. Morgan weather team supports firm’s Global Commodities business
May 17, 2012
With employees in Houston and London, the J.P. Morgan Global Weather team, formed earlier this year, provides crucial support to the firm’s Global Commodities business.
Weather affects a wide range of commodities under the J.P. Morgan umbrella, including power, gas, oil, metals, coal and agriculture. It is a key driver of both supply and demand for most energy and agricultural commodities and a major driver of price, especially when supply balances are at critical levels.
Monitoring weather patterns also is crucial when it comes to renewable energy. Wind, solar and hydro power are all critically weather-dependent.
