January 27, 2011	U.K. Bribery Act Listen to an online seminar on the U.K. Bribery Act and its effect on companies that are carrying on business in the UK. The U.K. Bribery Act comes into force in April 2011 and is designed to replace previous bribery laws in the U.K. with a broader, more comprehensive code. There is a strong emphasis on corporate liability, notably the different ways in which a company can be liable in the U.K. for extraterritorial offenses. Understanding the impact of this Act is important even if the only connection to the U.K. is listing a DR on a U.K. stock exchange. Matthew Cowie, white collar crime expert from Skadden, provides an overview of the scope of the Act and its effect on the Emerging Markets issuers and Peter Drake and Peter Maher, forensic specialists from auditor Deloitte, will elaborate on the implementation of systems of compliance.
