Teach For America
You can make an incredible difference.
J.P. Morgan is partnering with Teach For America in its mission to enlist our nation's most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequity.
The Partnership
Teach For America is building a diverse, highly selective national corps of outstanding recent college graduates — of all academic majors and career interests — who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools in our nation’s lowest-income communities and become life-long leaders for expanding educational opportunity. At J.P. Morgan, we are adding our resources, energy and support to help close the achievement gap that severely limits the life prospects of 13 million children growing up in poverty today.
In order to help Teach For America meet its goals, J.P. Morgan offers start date deferrals for people accepted to both Teach For America and J.P. Morgan Investment Bank’s full-time Analyst programs. There’s also a summer externship opportunity for Teach For America corps members between their first and second years in the classroom.
Success in the classroom and at J.P. Morgan
Leadership is critical to success in any field — from business to the classroom — and as a Teach For America corps member, you will have an unparalleled opportunity to lead. By committing two years to teach in a low-income community, not only will you have a profound impact on your students’ academic achievement, you will also develop concrete skills that will enable you to excel in your career at J.P. Morgan.
In our experience, Teach For America alumni have developed the traits we look for in would-be investment bankers, including outstanding leadership and communication skills, resilience and determination. There are few experiences more valuable or rewarding.
