J.P. Morgan’s Australian research team capped off a successful 2008, garnering high rankings across a number of independent market surveys. J.P. Morgan was the only major firm to improve on its research strength, achieving a fourth place ranking in the 2008 Peter Lee survey of institutional investors.
A standout team performance and a commitment to client servicing and idea generation have been critical to the team’s success. “This is a tremendous result,” says Paul Huxford, head of Australian research. “We have been very responsive to market conditions and have continued to be thought-provoking in terms of the research we provide.”
The annual Peter Lee survey is the most revered poll in the Australian market and involves extensive market research, basing its findings on interviews with portfolio managers, traders and research analysts to capture the perspectives of major Australian based equity brokers across a broad spectrum of success factors.
Significantly, J.P. Morgan was ranked among the top tier firms in research independence and objectivity. The firm also climbed to third from eighth in the survey on the strengths of its creative research ideas or themes and the quality of its conferences and seminars.
J.P. Morgan’s improved result in the Peter Lee survey follows consistent third place rankings in other independent surveys including, Institutional Investor, BRW Magazine and Starmine, published by the Australian Financial Review newspaper.
